About SOULWORK
The patterns that have been handed down from person to person for hundreds, if not thousands, of years contain the souls of our ancestors and are not just beautiful but also imbued with wisdom that people should cherish.
SOULWORK incorporates sacred patterns and designs that have survived the ages of Japan and the world into fashion that is in line with the times, so that you can easily come into contact with them in your daily life.
While carrying on traditions, we are also particular about using recyclable materials, and just like kimonos, we value the creation of products that can be handed down from parent to child and used for a long time.
We hope that SOULWORK will energize you and spread the circle of happiness.
[Designer Masako Azumaya Profile]
In 1997, he founded the fashion brand "SOULWORK" in his hometown of Kyoto, utilizing traditional patterns from Japan and around the world.
The company will celebrate its 28th anniversary in 2025.
The brand has been recognized as a pioneer of the Japanese fashion boom and an opinion brand, having won the Nikkei Woman of the Year Career Creation category and the Kyoto Prefecture Akebono Award, and has gained experience abroad by participating in events such as the Apple EXPO (Paris, France) hosted by Apple and an exhibition at the British Museum (London, England).
Furthermore, he created a buzz by branding and designing the yukata brand "rin no ne," which brought a breath of fresh air to the kimono industry.
In the uniform industry, we are responsible for designing and producing uniforms for Hoshino Resorts' Kyoto Hoshinoya and Kai (some stores).
The company was selected as one of five finalists (affiliated with a major department store's sales team) in the design competition for the uniforms to be used in the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The company is also active in a wide range of fields, including launching the brand "KAYAMA," which incorporates the paintings of the late Japanese painting master Matazo Kayama into fashion.
Currently, in cooperation with Japanese master craftsmen, the company handles a wide range of products from haute couture to ready-to-wear and women's clothing.
They have been in charge of designing and producing the staff uniforms for Hoshino Resorts' Hoshinoya Kyoto for many years since the hotel first opened.
In addition, in the fall of 2024, they will also be creating dance costumes (not open to the public) to be donated to a temple in Kyoto, a World Heritage Site.
