Hoshinoya Kyoto uniform

Since its opening, Hoshinoya Kyoto has been designing staff uniforms by SOULWORK designer Masako Azumaya.

In the winter of 2024, as a new initiative, the uniforms will be renewed, making use of the techniques of Tomiya Orimono Co., Ltd., a Nishijin weaver in Kyoto.
We developed an original obi fabric that combines elegance and color, elevating it to a more sophisticated design.

[Obi concept]

The time is the Heian period.
Admiring the full moon spreading across the clear night sky, the nobles drink together, talk about the future, and recite poetry.
The pattern evokes an elegant scene from boating in Arashiyama.

Furthermore, the gorgeous chrysanthemum, a symbol of longevity, is a flower closely related to the city and represents Kyoto's thousand-year history and elegance.

The floral cloisonne pattern, which represents peace and harmony, is woven into the fabric to symbolize the refined sensibility of Hoshinoya Kyoto and the spirit of Kyoto, weaving it from the present to the future, and into the world and universe, expressing eternal harmony.
