[New chrysanthemum pattern]

This is a pattern painted on a Noh costume from the Edo period that is housed at the National Museum.
When it was introduced from China, the motif flower was the peony, but the artists of the time chose the chrysanthemum, a flower unique to Japan, and reconstructed it into this piece.
The colorful chrysanthemum flowers give a pop impression that is reminiscent of modern art.
The tangled arabesque pattern resembles a spiral stretching into space, and I feel it is a magnificent pattern that connects us to the universe.
